Remember these odds for a 6/49 game?
We've looked at playing a combination 5 game which improves our odds so that our odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 1,906,884. There are other kinds of combinations (wheeling) for the 6/49 and Ontario 49 lotteries - besides the 'Combination 5', there is the 'Combination 7', 'Combination 8', and 'Combination 9'. These games will play every 6-number combination your 7, 8, or 9 chosen numbers can make. The beauty of the combination 7, 8, and 9, is that if 3 of your numbers get picked you win multiple prizes. The combination 9 is $168 for the 6/49 and $84 for the Ontario 49. That is because your odds of winning are COMBIN(49,6)/84 or 1 in 166,474. You have to buy 84 tickets to play all 6-number combinations of 9 numbers. But do you really need ALL the 6-number combinations? No. That's why playing 'reduced-sets' is an advantage - you get coverage for much less money. You can get this comparable coverage with less lines by using wheeling patterns, these are automatically generated for you if you use Lotto Pro 2007. Once in a while I get the Ontario 49 Combination 5 but of all the combination tickets, I most often get the Ontario 49 combination 7. I will usually take 10 of the numbers I want to play and wheel them into 3 lines of 7, for a total of $10.50. I haven't hit the jackpot yet though! I have to admit that my favorite game is Keno category 10. You can also create your own spreadsheets from La Jolla Covering Repository Tables.
